Mp3 files on my drive play fine, startup sounds play, but no video audio? No matter the format, You tube, my avi's mp4's etc no sound in any player?? confused!!! it just started as of this AM??? Help,it is driving me mad!!

try change audio preference in media player
Gnome media player : edit >preferences >audio output
VLC : tool > preferences > audio > output module

In the sound preferences the hardware profile was correct,but in output HDMI was ticked instead of onboard sound!!
