[SOLVED] jack sense

My jack sense doesn't work. I get sound out of the speakers with my headphines plugged in and there is no option for this in sound settings.
the following

Codec: Realtek ALC268
Codec: Conexant ID 2c06

and I tried adding this

options snd-hda-intel model=ALC268 position_fix=1

to my /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

No joy- what should I do? Used options snd-hda-intel model=ALC268 position_fix=1ng mint 13 and everything else works perfectly...

I've tried a bunch of different models in alsa-base but nothing changes... hopefully both our threads will get us some answers
