Compiz on Mint 14 Cinnamon?
hey im kind of new to linux and even newer mint user. Anyway how do you install and run compiz fusion on cinnamon? is there a guide for this sort of thing because i couldnt fine one when i searched?

Compiz doesn't work on Cinnamon. Cinnamon has it's own effects. If you want Compiz, it works on MATE or Xfce (though it is a bit of work to install and configure).

is it possible to download MATE alongside cinnamon and run it that way?

Should be. Install the package mint-meta-mata, then from the login screen switch your session from Cinnamon to MATE.
