I am using LMDE latest updated version and had an error problem with my HP All in One 8500 series printers. After installing the network printer I would get the following message... "printer-resolution' has value '(unknown IPP tag)' and cannot be edited."
Tried several different fixes with python-cups versions, etc. to no avail. Then I changed drivers to "hpcups 3.12.6" in the Administration>Printing>Properties for the installed printer. I still get an error message but the print job goes through and prints properly. The scanner function also works as well. Apparently the default driver installed referencing "hpijs" does not function correctly.
HP All In One Printers stopped working in LMDE after update.

Re: HP All In One Printers stopped working in LMDE after upd
My printer is a Cannon Pixma 870 with the same error output after UP6 to LMDE system. I tried reinstalling cups due to warning message at boot. Did removal of printer-resolution without success. Printer is still running properly but error message.....
Still looking for resolution. Merry Christmas
