disable acpi. in boot option, set acpi=off. this will enable sound, wifi, and bluetooth. the problem is that sound is there but hardware muted. problem with the acpi hotkey driver. don't know about mint, but that's how it is in suse 10.3, ubuntu 7.10, and mandriva 2008.1. I've downloaded mint and will try it now.
but in case of wifi and bluetooth, boot into windows first to enable them using the fn-f5 and fn-f6 keys. then only boot into linux. otherwise, you can also try putting it into sleep mode, and wake it up (works in mandriva and ubuntu, but not suse). try it in mint.
i've tried all these and see my post http://blog.syafril.com/?p=38

hey the soundcard works well with fedora 8.also wireless card. Mint however needs no modification for wireless card to work. visit these links.

Hey i did following for my laptop.
first boot from either hard disk or live cd. then press fn+f1 which goes to sleeping mode. then again awake it. sound, wireless card problems got solved. ethernet card i have not tested. it may also work. this also works for fedora 8. still one bug remaining is when i connect headphone sound comes from both head phone and front speakers. is there any solution for the sound to come only from headphone. thanks for all.
