Type of DVD

Hi, why does the manual say to get a blank DVD-R , if I burn Linux on a DVD+R it won't work or?..

Some of the Mint User Guide is kind of old. Your iso file should burn fine on a DVD+R. As a matter of fact, I always use a DVD-RW myself.

Yep either DVD -R or +R will work fine.
But DVD +/-RW are problematic from what I've read in many forums.
Not just Linux but Windows issues as well with them.

I read an article on this subject some time ago and really don't remember much of it. DVD+r has more options or features than DVD-r. It allows you to do more things or include more info on your burn. Do a search, I'm sure it is very easy to find the differences. I have used only DVD+r for a couple years with no apparent problems. I have 9 Linux distros on DVD+r . They all work.
