Installing MINT on an Arctic MC001-E desktop PC?...

Postby DJONO on Sun Dec 30, 2012 2:52 pm

Dear MINT folk,

I am completely new to Mint, but not totally new to Linux - i have previously completed an Ubuntu Build on a mash up of old hardware. It worked fine until i had problems with the PSU, and since then the unit has sat there waiting to be fixed.

For my latest project, i am now considering installing Mint on this device, an Arctic MC001-E media centre type PC: http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/living/entert ... tml?c=2296

I couldn't find any references to such a device on this forum and that's why i thought i'd create a new topic here (sorry mod if i broke the rules!), and the only references i have found on Google are in languages i can't understand so it's a bit difficult to know exactly what they are saying, even with Google translate.

Does anyone have any advice about what i can expect installing Mint onto this device? This PC will be a simple web surfing device in my home and will not be a file store as such, it will locate documents via a USB external hard drive and wired / wifi connections to other PC's.

I have yet to install 8Gb RAM (probably G:Skill - http://bit.ly/UcRqdR) and a Hard Drive (I am considering an OCZ Vertex Plus R2 SSD (Sata-2,60Gb)), so if anyone can shed any light on the task i am about to embark on that would be very much appreciated :0)

Looking forward to finding more out about Mint! Happy New year everyone!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.
