I recently switched to Linux Mint from Ubuntu and ran into my first configuration problem. I installed PowerBroker Identity Services Open Edition (recommended over the Likewise Open package from the repositories: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LikewiseOpen) on a Linux Mint 13 "Maya" Cinnamon (64-bit) workstation so that users can login using Windows domain credentials. Windows users can login to the workstation but the session appears to be using the Cinnamon fallback (Mint menu missing, etc.); however, a regular user (e.g. the default admin user created at installation) has access to the full Cinnamon desktop. This is not an "unsupported video card / no graphics acceleration" situation.
My instinct tells me that there is a permissions problem at work (Likewise users need to be included in some custom group, etc.), but I do not know where to start since I am a new Mint user. How do I configure my workstation to allow Windows users authenticating with PBIS (Likewise) to use the Cinnamon desktop?
