USB 3.0 on ASUS U36SG

Hi everyone! Here again with a new problem! The only USB 3.0 port of my laptop does not work anymore. I mean, it gives power (my portable hard drive powers on when connected to it), but it does not communicate with the laptop in terms of data transferring (no device working with both the USB 2.0 ports is detected by my system when attached to it). It worked before, I already used it with my portable hard drive (is a USB 3.0 one limited by the 5400 rpm rotational speed of its disk) and it was faster than USB 2.0, I suppose as fast as a 5400 rpm disk can get (60 MB/s if I do remember well, doubling USB 2.0 speed). I can't recall what I recently changed that may have got the port not working, but maybe you can help me find out.

Ugh! Never mind, I updated the BIOS and now it's working, everything I connect to the port is even recognized by the BIOS itself to use as a boot device. Not sure I couldn't in this last moments my devices attached to that port weren't recognized by my system, but I remember I formerly could select them but had some occasional troubles booting from that device. Everything works smoothly now.

Still remains a mystery while my USB 3.0 worked out of the box until the last days with the old BIOS and now I had to update it to get it work, but if anyone got some explanation for this I'll wait to mark this thread as solved. Anyway, sorry for the useless extra post, didn't mean to litter the forum, should have checked if I had the last BIOS before writing, but still I'd like to know the reason of this oddity, if possible.
