I followed the instructions for ugrading from Mint 13 cinnamon http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/2. I did a clean install of Mint 14 cinnamon and restored my my home directory. When I tried to restore software using the backup tool, I get a message telling me "Could not apply changes! Fix broken packages first." After some googling, I found a couple of messages that said I could use synaptic to fix broken packages. I tried that to no effect. Other messages said to use "sudo apt-get clean && sudo apt-get update." That also had no effect. Other messages said that the problem was with non-standard repos. As far as I know, I have not added any extra repos.
The backup tool gives no clue about what is broken. Is there some way to find that info? Is there some other way to restore software packages? Some pacakages are listed as "could not locate", is that the problem? If so, how can I fix that?
Thanks
