Hello,
I just built myself a new desktop computer and decided to give Linux Mint a try as my main OS. I've used Ubuntu for quite awhile on my little netbook and I've enjoyed it but I'm looking for a change. I plan on trying to run my old Windows 7 installation in virtualbox or an equivalent program. Glad to be a part of the forum!
My specs are as follows:
Case - BitFenix Prodigy (White)
Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz
ASUS P8H77-I LGA 1155 Intel H77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard
Kingston SSDNow V+200 KR-S3090-3H 2.5" 90GB SATA III Internal 7mm Solid State Drive (SSD) (Stand-alone Drive)
Seagate 1.5 TB Storage Drive
G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866
ZALMAN CNPS8000B 92mm FSB (Fluid Shield Bearing) CPU Cooler
LG Black 14X Blu-ray Burner
Antec 550w Modular powersupply

Re: Just switched from Ubuntu to Mint
Good day and welcome to Linux Mint,
Hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
Re: Just switched from Ubuntu to Mint
Wow thanks for the warm welcome and tips! Yes this machine boots Mint in under 10 seconds, I honestly don't know what we were all doing before SSD's.
So far I've got Conky up and running and almost tweaked to my liking and I just posted in the Software section for some assistance with virtualbox, hope to see you there!

I think you had to use a hand-crank to start your computer up, to spin the hard disk up to speed? Well, it sounded like it in the old days anywayrsxhawk wrote:I honestly don't know what we were all doing before SSD's.
