Barclays' Linux programme not a snub to suppliers

"Barclays says it is not snubbing any supplier by developing a private cloud infrastructure and using Linux to cut its software development costs by 90%.

Newspaper reports claimed Barclays will save billions on IT through the strategy, but the bank told Computer Weekly that the 90% savings are in software development, not overall IT spending."

That is good to read, although it won't get me switching to Barclays bank in a hurry. Also of course there is a huge difference between them using LInux to save money and actually supporting Linux. I lay £1 to 1p that any customer software they produce will still come as an exe file with windows only compatibility.
