Firefox Update 18
Did anyone else notice the small rectangular desktop artefact that remains for a second or two as firefox opens, since this update?

Pics or it didn't happen? Or in other words, I'm not sure what you mean. I've managed to capture the following when using Firefox 18 from VirtualBox, but I can't reproduce it outside of VirtualBox. That might be just a glitch from using VirtualBox. It show Firefox 18 starting and maximizing itself, just before it draws the contents of its main window.
Re: Firefox Update 18
Right, that looks the same I wasn't able to reproduce it with earlier Firefox versions in VirtualBox, so perhaps indeed a change from release 18. It looks like just a slight delay because Firefox 18 doesn't draw its main window till it is maximized after startup. Perhaps more noticeable if the computer isn't the fastest? I can see it on VirtualBox, but not on my quadcore processer with SSD storage...

Also,
for the redditors out there. Or, you don't even need to go to www.reddit.com, to notice that the font has got weirder.
Can any verify this, and is there a fix for it?
