Overheating During Video Playback

Postby jasond567 on Mon Jan 14, 2013 9:48 am

Hello guys,

I would like to start by saying that I installed mint yesterday, this is my first taste of linux and so far am loving every minuet of it.

However I have just come across my first issue which is when streaming video online my usage goes above the 70 degrees of which mint defines as high. Whilst listening to music on the spotify app the temp gets up to 69 degrees. And when watching video it gets up to 76 degrees. The below quote is what i get after running the "sensors" command after 5 minuets of video streaming.

jason@jason-Aspire-5536 ~ $ sensors
acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +79.0°C (crit = +99.0°C)
temp2: +72.0°C (crit = +126.0°C)

k10temp-pci-00c3
Adapter: PCI adapter
temp1: +76.0°C (high = +70.0°C)

I know i am a noob and all but could this be an issue with the drivers. Please see hardware info below.
Processor - AMD Athlon X2 QL-64
Graphics - ATI Radeon HD 3200

Any help would be hugely appreciated, let me know if there is any more info.

Jason

**EDIT - After browsing online I heard that installing jupiter could help, the above results are after installing jupiter.
