saving a flash video to my hard drive

Post by Caps18 »

Is there a Linux program that allows me to save a streaming flash video to my hard drive?

I was using some small 'media replay catcher' or something in Windows to do it.

Unplug for firefox is great for that... It actually looks for any media on a given page, so the site you want doesn't have to be on its list. I've tried 'em all, and I haven't found anything better yet.

Possibly the easiest is once the video has finished streaming goto your .mozilla/profile folder and find the file with the largest size.

Thats what I do.

There's an extension for FIrefox called CacheViewer. It'll get you there quicker.

VideoDownload Helper tends to hang Firefox for me... But CacheViewer looks pretty handy!
