Linux Mint Isadora: updates not possible any more

Post by foersu »

Hello,

I guess since the start of 2013, when trying to update Linux Mint 9, Isadora (Gnome, German), I get the error message:

Code: Select all

Eventhough this language of this forum is English, I post the messages in the original language I receive them. A translation would lead to ambiguities or missunderstandings. Thanks for your understanding.

It looks like the repositories would had been removed. I know, Isadora ist the last LTS before the current, but I would be very surprised if Linux Mint would had removed the repositiories without previous announcement... or I missed the announcement too :?

I would appreciate some hints to hopefully solve the problem. Thanks in advance.
Regards

See this topic for a workaround and the probable cause: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=122213.

You can instead let the program itself use English. To do so, update from the command line with:

Code: Select all

LC_ALL=C apt update
You can prefix any command with "LC_ALL=C" and it should normally revert to using English.

They're just slow, see the linked topic. Isadora is support till April this year; it will be posted on the blog around that time that Isadora has been discontinued and that you would be recommended to either upgrade to the new LTS (Maya--supported till April 2017) or probably to Linux Mint 15 which will have been released by them (supported till October 2014).

Sounds like the Update Manager problems others have been having? Try here: viewtopic.php?f=90&t=122213
