Is Java in LM 'safe'?

Since there's a lot of call to disable Java (but not Javascript) are we safe with our version?
Dell Inspiron 1520 - T6570 2.1ghz C2D, 4 gigs ram, integrated Intel 965 GPU, Intel replacement wifi card.

If you are concerned, best to disable Java in your web browser. Though some websites apparently (perhaps foolishly) require Java, so you might want to check on you online banking website and such. See comments here: viewtopic.php?f=90&t=122715#p673656

Thanks, I couldn't search on the word "Java" on the forum, it returned a message saying too frequently used and below five characters.
