What the hell happened to my desktop? This is a strange one...
Im running LMDE with XFCE. All was fine. Today, my usual desktop and background loads
then an extra background or wallpaper is loaded on top of it.
I run ps aux and see xfdesktop.. when I kill -9 xfdesktop the extra desktop/background/icons go away and there underneath, is my normal desktop.
After a reboot it returns. Both while it was running and other times when I killed it, I ran updatedb and locate xfdestkop it can not be found!
What the hell is loading on top of my desktop and how exactly, do I stop it from loading.
What the hell happened to my desktop? This is a strange one.

[moved here as it is referring lmde]
my guess: nautilus took over handling the desktop; check if nautilus is running.
