This is the first really weird problem I've faced when using Linux and I don't have a clue where to start troubleshooting.
I have Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon edition installed on my HTPC, which is connected to an Onkyo amplifier, which is connected to a "oldish" 42" Sony Bravia tv (1360x768 resolution) via hdmi cable.
Graphics are handled with Intel HD graphics 2000. No other video cards installed.
Everytime I turn off the amplifier (leaving the HTPC running), and then turn the amp back on, the screen resolution goes crazy. The tv interprets the signal to be 1080i, which is not the one I've set on the settings.
Sometimes switching between sessions restores the correct resolution, but most of the time the result is X and Cinnamon crashing. After the crash, I have to "pkill X" to restore the Cinnamon back to life.
Any help would be appreciated!
