Last weekend, I took an old P4 Dell Desktop and installed Mint on it. So that makes me a newbie - albeit a very old one! My goal is to relax, have some fun and learn. This forum looks like an ideal place. Thank you all for having it.
The install went really smoothly. I have an error when I reboot concerning a problem accessing my floppy drive. I have seen it mentioned elsewhere here, so my first project will be to eliminate that error - prolly next weekend.
Smallish, somewhat boring bio: I have been programming professionally since way back in the 1900's, I have worked both in academia and in the real world - currently I am back in academia. I know a little about a lot of different things but don't consider myself an expert in anything.
My only other real hobby is fastpitch softball. My daughter is in her senior year of college, finishing her softball career. I do get excited about softball. I hope to coach someday. Cheers
