Has anyone been able to install and run Conkeror on Mint? It's a minimal, keyboard commanded browser inspired by emacs (and not to be confused with Konqueror, the KDE browser.
Following the install instructions I get:
sudo apt-get install conkeror conkeror-spawn-process-helper
[sudo] password for brian:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package conkeror
E: Unable to locate package conkeror-spawn-process-helper
Any ideas? Is there a repository I should be in?

Re: Conkeror web browser
it depends how much work (time) you want to spend on that
i wasn't aware of this browser so curiosity took me to friend google and i found a couple interesting things
- it's available in debian http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=conkeror
- was available in lucid http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywo ... ection=all removed after because it depends on xulrunner and with the crazy 6 weeks update rhythm by mozilla, xulrunner was removed from ubuntu's repo http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywo ... ection=all
this means that the builds you find here http://conkeror.org/InstallationUnix (manual installation) won't work (at least not without installing also xulrunner 1.9.x and this last bit is not that easy i believe)
but here http://noone.org/blog/English/Computer/ ... moval.html someone wants conkeror as much as you and altered the package requirements
you have a direct repo download http://noone.org/conkeror-nightly-debs/?C=M;O=D
and a ppa https://launchpad.net/~xtaran/+archive/conkeror (the ppa is only for oneiric and natty so you'll have to add it manually and hope that it will work)
nothing of the above was tested: use at your own risk

Re: Conkeror web browser
Thanks! I had managed to miss that site in my searching. It does seem like a lot of trouble, but then again, I do love to tinker with software, so I'll probably try it.

Re: Conkeror web browser
a few days ago i found dwb << project's home page >>
it's available in debian (the base i'm using) and also in ubuntu (quantal and raring, meaning mint 14 and the upcoming mint 15)
http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?suite ... ywords=dwb
(as i don't know conkeror i've no idea if they are similar projects)
