I've run into a critical bug in Evolution where I can't open attachments because Evolution won't even let me see that they are there. I believe this is the related bug:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=893923
Does anyone know of any repos with a more up to date evolution version?
I tried installing evolution and evolution-plugins 3.6.2 from here: http://packages.ubuntu.com/raring/gnome/evolution
but they showed up as broken after the install since too many other packages depended on the current version in Mint's repo.
I'm worried if I try compiling from the source on the evolution site I'll run into even more problems with the dependencies.

Re: Newer version of Evolution
Compiling from the source files can only succeed or fail (due to errors), and the errors if any will be shown to you in the terminal..
These are the evolution website versions available: which one are you using ?
http://projects.gnome.org/evolution/download.shtml
Gnome release shedule for later versions..
https://live.gnome.org/ThreePointSeven/
The stable *.tar file may install (3.6x), you need to check for any desktop issues.. (Gnome 3x unity for example..)
--if you are not risk adverse then one can always test out the unstable version (3.7x), but would likely be more problematic..

Re: Newer version of Evolution
I'm using 3.6.0 which is the latest in the Mint 14 (ubuntu quantal) repo. I haven't tried compiling the ones on the evolution download page that you linked. I was worried about dependencies before.
I saw the link to the Gnome page before, but hadn't dug into it much. I just did and the latest version there is 3.6.1 in the experimental branch which I checked and it doesn't have the patch. I think I'll just have to compile it from scratch.
I also found a workaround in the meantime. If I click to Forward the message, the new forward box will display the attachment. This doesn't work for Reply though.
