Cannot turn on Wifi (HP ENVY Ultrabook)

Post by macr »

I cannot seem to get my wifi to turn on. The switch is the f12 button and it worked when I had the Win 8 virus still installed.
I have done a search and tried fixes that I have found on the forum including trying to load the b43 and the Wacom driver, but still with no luck.
Can anyone give a solution to my problem?

Re: Cannot turn on Wifi (HP ENVY Ultrabook)

So I have modified my posts, as I am not happy with the solution above. When I implemented the the above solution, I had the *nix version of the BSoD (ie, Kernel Panic).
This meant my computer falls over fairly regularly. This is not a solution!
Since then I have re-installed Mint and have built the latest kernel 3.7.5 and installed that. I have also downloaded new drivers which at least allow me to add my wireless network connection. But when it comes to connection it will only recognise the wired connection and does not have a wireless option.
Any idea why this is happening and how I can fix it?
