Is there a boot cheatcode/option to specify the xorg module to use similar to:
boot xmodule=ati
I've tried this, and looked at the wiki with no success, along with the f2,f3 options on the boot screen.
This is for the live DVD not an installed version.
I am trying to get a 1440 x 900 screen on a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop. Another distro sucessfully does this, but strikes out on java (non sun, so nothing works), and most especially support of the 3945abg card for wireless networking.
The other distro is using the xorg ati module and that gives me my desired screen resolution.
Thanks.

Re: Mint KDE CE DVD xorg xmodule boot option
The 5.3.1 Knoppix boots into a native 1440x 900 screen with out issue, and am trying to get LM KDE to do the same or allow me to change it.Husse wrote:I think that's specific to Knoppix
So there is no command line equivalent for LM KDE to do this?
Best I get is 1152x8??? and that just looks horrible.
Re: Mint KDE CE DVD xorg xmodule boot option
There are several ways to do it - screen resolution tools etc....
I prefer editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf but it's sidestepped to an extent
I'll try to reboot into KDE to see what to suggest - I'm mainly a gnome guy.....

Tried the display via KDE Control, doesn't change any thing.Husse wrote:There are several ways to do it - screen resolution tools etc....

If this were an installed version I would edit xorg.conf, but on the LIVE DVD, it needs to reboot so the changes are lost.
Re: Mint KDE CE DVD xorg xmodule boot option
I think it's enough to restart Xit needs to reboot
ctrl+alt+backspace
Sorry I did not notice you had not installed yet...
Re: Mint KDE CE DVD xorg xmodule boot option
I'll try it again, I seem to remember doing that and no changes took effect....but I've tried so many options and choices out of the list I've lost track.Husse wrote:I think it's enough to restart Xit needs to reboot

Tried editing xorg.conf, and above, just freezes at booting rc.local, same with logout re-startx.Husse wrote:I think it's enough to restart Xit needs to reboot

Also no joy on live vga=868 from the VESA mode list.
