Touchpad and laptop monitor not properly working

Postby vale.maio2 on Sun Jan 27, 2013 1:10 pm

Hello there, I've asked for help on Mint IRC without much success, so I'll try here.
I have the following laptop:
Olivetti Olibook S1500
CPU: Intel Core i3
Graphic card: Intel HD Graphics (I don't remember the exact model)
OS.: Linux Mint 14 MATE
Kernel: 3.7.2-030702-generic
I'm having some issues with such laptop
  • I can't disable the mouse click by tapping on the touchpad surface, since the OS believes that I'm using a generic USB mouse instead of the built in touchpad. As if that was not enough, the touchpad is so sensible that even a single hair falling on it is enough to activate the click (I'm not exaggerating).
  • Whenever the laptop is running on battery power, when I close the lid and open it back, no matter how long it was closed, the monitor won't turn on until I close and open again the lid at least 10 times. No need to say that pressing any key won't turn it on, as well as the default operation when closing the lid is don't do anything. On the contrary, when the laptop is running on AC, the monitor won't turn off at all, therefore not giving me that problem. (I don't care if the monitor turns off or not when closing the lid, I would just like to get it working as soon as I open the lid).
Those can seem minor issues, but since I use my computer for everyday tasks, they're driving me crazy.
Thank you in advance for any kind of help.

It seem that it knows that the mouse is a touchpad, but System Settings just ignore this fact. That's odd...
