Missing Brightness Control Popup

Post by socrates_johnson »

Hello, I have an Asus Q400A laptop with Mint 14 Cinnamon installed. Initially, the brightness keys (fn+f5/f6) wasn't working. I managed to get it working, but the brightness popup meter doesn't show up. [The volume and all other popups seem to appear, however.] Does anyone have any thoughts on how to make the brightness popup appear? Thank you!

Hello, I'm sorry for not responding sooner. I tried several things to get the brightness function keys working, and I apologize because am not positive I remember which one worked, but I think this method ended up working for me:

I'm not a Linux pro or anything so be careful and good luck!

Hi! Thanks a lot, it worked with the link above, but with this change I have a little bug here, after reboot the browser chromium starts with a very small size and cannot be maximized (just on first open) , it stay like that, i have to close it and open again then it restore to normal size.

like that: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v0dy33kc1f54slt/screen.png

Do you have this same issue?

Thanks a lot for the fixing link.

You're welcome. Unfortunately, I'm not sure about the strange issue with chromium. I use chrome, but have not noticed any issues since I got the brightness controls working.
