Dell Latitude D620 - no wireless option

Post by cookiesandjuice »

Hi there, I'm a brand new Linux user who is currently just testing out the waters with the Mint Live USB, 32-bit Cinnamon no-codec distribution.

My specs:
Dell Latitude D620
2 GB RAM, Core i2

Currently, I'm unable to access any wireless connection. I ran MintWifi in the terminal with the following results:

Code: Select all

mint@mint ~ $ sudo /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintWifi/mintWifi.py

As well, http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlegacy apparently has the right driver for my laptop (I got there from http://www.linlap.com/dell_latitude_d620). However, I have no clue how which driver to pick for my Intel Wireless 3945ABG, nor how to install it.
Thank you in advance!

what happends if you locate your driver files with "Windows Wireless Drivers" from the Linux Mint Menu. If you want to learn more, see 'ndiswrapper'

Hey grim, thanks for the reply.

I've tried to use ndiswrapper, but for some reason I can't access the files on my HDD when I'm using the Live USB. I can only access "root", any USB drives, and "bin."
As well, I've downloaded the Windows networking driver for my laptop model, but it's a .exe file, not a .inf file.
