Mint13 home folder compatible with LMDE??
I currently have Mint 13 Mate 32 bit on my IBM Thinkpad R40 Notebook which does not have a PAE featured CPU. I saw that LMDE does not require a PAE CPU and need to know if my /home partition will remain compatible if I upgrade to LMDE? I usually back up everything important, but after upgrading find everything intact and working without need to do anything at all in my /home partition.

Yes !
But you need to delete all the hidden folders !

Or even better put all the hidden folders into a new folder called 'old config'
The you can copy some of them across, I copy:
.mozilla
.thunderbird
Back after any re-installing or distro changes

Maybe I should have asked this way.
Can I dual boot Mint 13 and LMDE using a common /home partition?

You can, yes. I'm currently doing the same with LMDE and Nadia, and I haven't had any issues.

Thanks all, I went ahead and installed LMDE and it kept my home folder and Desktop intact. The 1380 file, 927MB, update was a little unexpected, but went well also. I'll spend some time checking it out now, but at first glance everything looks quite nice and usable.
