Problem installing on laptop MSI X370

Postby leopoldbirkholm on Mon Jan 28, 2013 4:03 pm

Hello dear folks,

I have some issue with my laptop MSI X370. I have read this thread "Solve boot problems with AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards" where I have done the part 1 through 4 and now I'm starting my own thread.

Here is some specs for my laptop.
MSI X370
http://www.msi.com/product/nb/X370.html#/?div=Overview

APU(CPU with AMD with intergreted GPU is called APU):
AMD E-350 Zazate 40nm
Motherboard MSI MS-1356
GPU:
AMD Radeon HD 6300
Storage:
Seagate 500 GB 5AS SATA 5400 RPM
Audio:
Realtek HD Audio
WiFi
Realtek RTL8188CE

I have read about APU and AMD and seems like it's a know issue.

I have got so far I can start the installation but then the Nautilus crashes and first the installationwindow goes away, then the desktop icons, then the menu row at the bottom.

Now, I got a gray screen with black strips. AMD seems not like Linux. :(

Any thoughts of what I shall look for?
Yes, I will write something insightfull here :D

Two good books in your shelf:
Ubuntu for non-geeks 4:th edition and Linux in a Nutshell 6:th edition
