hi LLinux Mint 14 Cinna 32bit
i had to create an new topic on as per rules so
i had asked why my mg2240 was not printing http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=123929 to view i did to install the driver
the scanner is working now but the printer is using an generic text only driver still at this point
did i do something wrong, or how do i replace the generic driver with new installed driver?
please help

let me suggest this to you. Remove every Canon driver using Synaptic. When finished, close synaptic. After that open a terminal and run the following command:

Then open synaptic again and look under Source (left below) for the michael gruz entry. Mark the proper printerdriver for installation and click apply.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:michael-gruz/canon-trunk

sudo apt-get update

Sorry am new to all lunix can you give me and detailed how to remove the drivers (since i used the terminal to install this drivers?

so you are running 2 threads about your MG2240 printer ......
I think if you install the libtiff4; and redo the instructions I gave you in the other post; the MG2200 series printer will install correctly and you will have a working printer .........
I don't think you need to do any deletions etc
I will also subscribe to this thread and keep a closer eye on the forum

yes i created this post thinking the driver did install but didnt replace the generic driver so new qeustion new thead
but it sorted was please use the url in this thread go to first thread for details of solution
