Hi,
I've been using Linux since 1999. For the last couple of years I've been hearing about MInt and finally decided to check it out.
Now, I would like to say thanks to the development team because this distribution is absolutely stunning.
I've used a lot of distros but I've never seen one which combined the virtues of ease-of-use, stability and sheer coolness and wow-factor the way Mint does. It's always seemed that one needed to compromise on one of those virtues. But not now.
From what I've been reading this is not an accident but the result of a philosophy of using technical innovation to give desktop users what they actually want and need. It feels like an outbreak of sanity which is incredibly welcome. As a result I feel I can (and will) recommend absolutely anyone to use this distro, whatever their technical level or familarity with non-Windows-land.
Great work!
Michael

Re: Fantastic distribution
funny you should word it like that.
I have some hard core linux friends, and i mean hardcore, they grew up on redhat and suse, and i have been trying to convince them to switch to mint and all i get as a response ( probly since to them im the noob linux user ) is that mint is for kiddies and windows users and its just a desktop enviroment for ubuntu... How wrong they are and im sure when they eventualy try it ( as everyone eventualy ends up here ) they will applaud mint as you just did, and i will be there to say "i told you so".
But you are correct, Mint is by far the most well packaged linux ive seen, no distro even comes close.

Quoting Vitaly the tiger, from Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, I would say that's all Bolshevik . Linux Mint is the most practical and elegant desktop ever. I have tried these Linux distros,OS X Moutain Lion and Windows 8. And I would say nothing compares to Mint. In fact it's easier to convince "Windozers" to convert to Linux and get rid of Microsoft viruses inplanted in their brains if you introduce them to Linux Mint. I carried out this surgery many times on many infected brains
Re: Fantastic distribution
Hi Michael, welcome to Linux Mint Glad you like it! Which desktop environment are you using?
Re: Fantastic distribution
Well, I'm using Cinnamon on my main PC, Mate on an old laptop and Xfce on a netbook. I will probably switch them all to Cinnamon though. It was Cinnamon that I particularly had in mind when I talked about using innovation to give users stuff they actually want.
Re: Fantastic distribution
I had a feeling about that, yes But it's good you have tried some of the other desktop environments. No matter which you like best, it's good to know you like that one best by having seen other choices.
Re: Fantastic distribution
I wish I could have stated my thoughts as well
I also have tried many different DE's on other distros, so far Cinnamon works great and seems light, so I am keeping it.
