Not really
But I would go so far as to say, FF performance has degraded and such has caused me to use Chromium
Linux Mint 21.1 Cinnamon

Yep working fine for me also no freezing. Generally many times has to do with an outdated or buggy extension that only becomes a nuisance when upgrading firefox. Sometimes it's has to do with mismatched of versions of flash & java that can add to the instability.

But it is getting tiresome to try to constantly keep everything in balance and running smoothly.
And going to another browser may or may not solve the issues. As seen the same complaints from Chrome,Opera,etc...

Do you have a of add-on's installed? And if so, which add-on's did you installed?

I have no problems with FF under Mint 14 + Cinnamon and i'm using 3 add-on's.

It seems like there was some regression in the 18.1 update in Firefox, ever since then it has sometimes started taking up huge amounts of CPU, I don't know what causes it but it always goes away when I restart Firefox. I think it might have something to do with Flash though - it often happens right after viewing some flash videos or other content.

This is in Mint 13 by the way.

FF 18.0.1 in Mint 14, Mate is definitely slower. FF has been slowing down for me. I have Add Block Plus, Download Helper and Flash Block.
I started noticing this quite a few months ago, actually. FF is not as good as it use to be. I may have to look into Chrome.
There is a Mozilla forum for it but I find the forum rather useless.
I am beginning to suspect, Microsoft is somehow influencing Mozilla. lol

No bothers for me and I run a lot of extensions and a profile that dates back about six years at least.

I can't comment on Firefox 18 in Mint 14 specifically, but iceweasel 18.0.1 works fine for me on LMDE upgraded to testing (iceweasel pulled from experimental). However, on Windows I had to "downgrade" to firefox 17.0.2 ESR because firefox 18.0(.1) kept crashing constantly.

Is Linux firefox 32bit or 64bit? and if not is there a 64bit version that might run faster?

As just saw this for windows. Waterfox
http://www.waterfoxproject.org/index.php

Waterfox is a high performance browser based on the Mozilla Firefox source code.
Waterfox is specifically for 64-bit systems, with one thing in mind: speed.

Just wondering if a 64bit gives real world increase in speed?

waterfox in windows 8 is amazing.super fast.i was looking into putting it in my mint 13 x64,but,it seems unavailable,so,im putting the 64bit version of firefox in,nightly builds.
might as well cause firefox is stalling like crazy.

Not really applicable for linux. Although the idea behind it sounds good...speed.

Firefox 18 definitely has problems for some (and not just on Linux). I've gone back to 17 for the time being, as 18 used to become unacceptably slow after a couple of minutes (like taking five seconds or more just to open the bookmark menu).

I've tried all the usual steps to find the culprit (new profile, no extensions/plugins, etc.). Made no difference.
