Is it possible?
I know you can install it on a USB cuz its re-writeable, but is it possible to make a bootable dvd of a similar kind?
If I install mint on my hard drive and say it takes less than 4.5gb after I have it all setup the way I want, can I simply burn all the contents of the harddrive (which are less than 4.5gb) on to a dvd and boot from the dvd? is it possible?
I'm aware that it wouldn't work on any other pc but mine if its possible, but thats not a problem...

the ISO image you download to install Mint from dvd is what you would end up with doing it your way. you already have it on the dvd. you can put that into any pc and boot from the dvd and you will be running mint
