Hi all, I am currently using KDE as my desktop environment, and it has a "classic menu" option for the application launcher. Not being familiar with Cinnamon, I don't know if it also has the classic option.

Sure, like the classic Gnome menu: http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/51. That has an expanding menu for applications similar to the classic KDE menu.
