Hallo,
I just installed Mint yesterday and have a problem logging in under Cinnamon.
When I log in get to see Terminal, it seems to try to login for few seconds, and
then it returns to login screen. However from time to time it gets through and I can
work under Cinnamon.
There is no such problem when I log in under GNOME---everything works fine here.
Any idea how to fix this?

I have the same problem. I'm using an Intel I5 processor and an Intel motherboard. Could only get the 32 bit version to autologon, but not manual logon. The 64 bit version did not work either way. Mate works fine. I installed Cinnamon on a different machine (Intel CPU & MSI board and it worked OK. Sorry I don't have a solution, but maybe this will help someone identify the problem.
