Hello,
I have some questions because I'm thinking about porting Cinnamon to Crux linux.
Where can I ask the best ?

Re: Cinnamon building questions
Hi Roelof, that's awesome The best place to ask technical questions is probably the IRC channel where the Linux Mint and Cinnamon developers hang out; #linuxmint-dev on irc.spotchat.org. If you have patches to contribute, or find issues, you can submit these on GitHub: https://github.com/linuxmint. For other kinds of questions, probably best to contact Clem (you can find him on the IRC, or contact the development team by email: http://www.linuxmint.com/contactus.php). I'd be happy to try and get any questions you have, answered here also.
Re: Cinnamon building questions
Oke,
First question.
Is there a sort of plan which package needs to build first and what the dependencies are on each package ?

Re: Cinnamon building questions
You will need to adapt this to Crux Linux, but see the How to compile the latest Cinnamon tutorial.
Re: Cinnamon building questions
Thanks for the answer.
I have still 2 questions.
1) Where can I find the depencies of Mutter and Cinnamon.
2) Does make install install things like this scheme: http://crux.nu/Main/Handbook3-0#ntoc23

Re: Cinnamon building questions
Hello,
The porting is on the way with a few problems.
One I need your help.
I have installed clutter which needed Gconf , so I installed version 3.2.6.
Now I want to install ORBit2 and I get a message that Gconf-2 is missing.
Do I need to re-install everything with Gconf version 2 or is Gconf-2 another package.

Re: Cinnamon building questions
Hi roelof, that goes beyond my expertise. Best to ask this on the IRC again I think.
Re: Cinnamon building questions

I have tried to find clem or another developer but no sucess.
So I send a PM to one of the developers and I hope I get a answer quick.

Re: Cinnamon building questions
Sorry to hear so long nothing from me.
I switched from Crux to Foresight linux and now Im in the middle of buidling Cinnamon for them.
Is it correct that 1.6.7 is still the stable release.
And is there any info of Cinnamon when the next stable is due or a page where the development of Cinnamon can be followed.

Re: Cinnamon building questions
Yes, 1.6.7 remains the current stable release. The next stable release will be done together with the Linux Mint 15 release. Should be here in 1-2 months. You can follow news about Linux Mint on the main blog: http://blog.linuxmint.com/. A next release will be announced there. You can also follow the Cinnamon news page: http://cinnamon.linuxmint.com/?cat=1. The next stable Cinnamon release will also be announced there.
To get in contact with the developers the best way remains IRC #linuxmint-dev. Timezones/workschedules may complicate it a bit to get in contact with the right person.
