Just installed mint 13 KDE on my cedarview Acer netbook a couple of days ago. Had Mint Maya with xfce and kde installed too so I figured kde works well I'd clear up the mess a bit.
It's pretty damn smooth, but when I tried the plasma netbook setting and went back it changed my themes.
Also, and this bugs me worse, when I maximize a window now I lose the borders and window title bar.
What is with these guys? I had to install the mate version and install xfce from synaptic to get a decently wotking xfce desktop. That's how bad the mint xfce was. Do I have to do this nonsense with the kde version too? Anyone know how to fix this?

In system settings in kde you can often choose 'defaults' reset...
Have you tried rebooting since this?
Last straw would be to start a new .kde
