This is my first time trying Linux. Wanting to get away from all the issues associated with Windows. I have an older Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop and got everything to work but the sound. Going through the sound controls, it shows Intel ICH6 (Alsa mixer), SigmaTel Stac9752 (OSS mixer), and the PulseAudio mixer. I've selected the controls for all, made sure the volumes were turned up, but still nothing from the speakers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Ended up running an update through the update manager and wadda ya know.....sound!!
