I am still having issues with sound. Any one care to maybe taking time to try to help? I am looking at reinstalling LMDE if I can not solve my sound problem

Long time ago, I had the issue of no sound, after distro-upgrade/UP
then I follow sdam's tutorial to remove pulse audio as per link here

Well its still not working correctly. It works but the sound is not loud enough to hear very well. I downloaded a live version and works as expected. so if someone has any other ideas for me to try? any help is much appreciated.
