Mint update broken Daryna Xfce

Post by kenetics »

I get a broken icon for Mint Update. It says "Could not refresh the list of packages".
I have up dated my sources.list, Mint Config, and Mint Desktop. but i still can't update. Is there any other thing to update or check?

Thanks

Nice to hear from you - but not this way :)
It could be your sources.list or that you don't get internet connection for mintUpdate
Can you use apt? apt(-get) update
Perhaps

I'm having the same problem. The mint update-Xfce stopped working this weekend on both my laptop and desktop computers.

For some reason exaile and wicd repos have been messed up.
Sometimes they work and sometimes not.
Just comment them out or disable then in Synaptic, when you have problems.
Also I would think mintUpdate could ignore this, but it doesn't. :?

Hi

Well my young brother Rodolfo ask me to install Mint XFCE CE because he was
sitting by my side and saw XFCE Desktop Environment screenshots and loved that
mouse logo.

a- I didn't installed NVidia driver after finishing installation
Later i updated Envy (missing dependency) and installed the driver

b- I disable " Madtux" repository - Exaile from sources.list

c- MintUpdate didn't work
I replaced it by updating it to version 1.7 (terminal)
Through Synaptic i installed it and remove XFCE Mintupate
Now i have Gnome Mintupdate working good

170 packages were updated - 2 of them were held back

Everthing's under control till now.

d- It's a pity that mozilla firefox browser was not updated - v.2.06[/b]
I wiil try the new version, installing firefox manually without no hurry - Let's see

Mozilla thunderbird is the newest one

Mint Xfce CE is a complete SO though it do not run light as it might run
comparing with Gnome and Kde Ce. But the apps and tools offered
are a quality guarantee for accept it as it was developed

Alright

The xfce is a Community Edition developed an maintained by Merwiz who has problems both computerwise and otherwise so it's not moving as fast as the Main and KDE editions

A- Those are removed to let Envy Fit on the Live CD.

B- I have a new sources.list to fix this below.

C- mintupdate-gnome and mintupdate-xfce are the same accept the default icons used.

D- Firefox is up to 2.0.0.13 Clem changed the repository after the beta was released.
To get the latest mint updates use the new soureces.list one found here:
http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... 169#p60169
more updates are here:
http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... 378#p60378

Glad you like the XFCE CE version and sorry for any inconveniences.
