Mint 14 xfce volume

Postby Rowdy on Fri Feb 08, 2013 10:44 am

Hi, a linux newbie and windows divorcee here. :)
Just a question. Basically in Windows I could raise the volume past the 100% mark for extra loudness since my laptop speakers are utter crap. In Mint xfce it only goes 100% and that's still not loud enough. Is there any other volume manager I could install and if so, how? Very new to linux here.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

If you use VLC you raise the volume over 100%. It's been awhile since I used XFCE in gnome based distros in the sound settings you have option to run sound with amplification. I believe XFCE might have same thing in xfce mixer under options or select controls.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm afraid there are no options in the default xfce volume manager that can go beyond 100%. I have the Intel HDA (Alsa Mixer). I've selected more volume controls but none do the trick.
And yes, VLC does help. :)
