Is there a way to change out a Panel icon?

Post by Kendoori »

I have a couple of apps that run in the tray (Yammer and Jungledisk) and they look really terrible (transparency issues). I had intermittent issues like this in Unity, but Gnome Shell worked OK. I'm running 1.6.7 on Ubuntu 12.04.

See 2nd from left and 9th from left.

Is there a workaround?

Hello Kendoori and welcome Mint,

if your using cinnamon 1.6 (not sure this worked in 1.4) you can simply right click the Icon and the go to edit.
the last box allows you to change the Icon. good luck

When you right click a menu box should come up select edit and the last box on the list is the icon you'll have to navigate to the icon you want to use most of them are stored in /usr/share/icons some in other places depending upon which program you want.
you'll either have to enter the complete address of the Icon you want that program to use or click on the little search box to the right of the command line entry and find the Icon you want in the file system , If you want a custom Icon you'll have to download that from the net and store it some where on your drive, you could put it in /usr/share/icons or make an Icon folder in your home directory.

Or perhaps you talking about changing the whole theme. that changes the Icons also.
