Cinnamon is great. But in my humble opinion it lacks a very useful feature commonly found in other desktop environments: the ability to organize workspaces as a 2D grid and to navigate between them in a 2D manner.
I know it's possible to organize workspaces in grid in the expo mode, but it's only possible to switch to the workspace on the right or the left, not to the one above or bellow.
I like to work with a 3x3 workspace grid and to switch between them with Ctrl-Alt-Up/Down/Left/Right. That's the only reason I'm sticking to MATE instead of switching to Cinnamon. I would really love to see this feature in a future version.
Kind regards

Re: Cinnamon: 2D workspace grid
For those who are interested, an applet now exists to provide a 2D workspace grid for Cinnamon.
