Welcome to the Linux Mint forums 
On your blog I saw your review of Maya and I noticed you were running the stock version of Cinnamon. Just putting it out there for if you are interested, but by enabling the backports repository on Maya you can get the newest stable version of Cinnamon also on Maya! See here for more info: http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2225. Here is a summary of a few of the new features in that version of Cinnamon: http://cinnamon.linuxmint.com/?p=207.
