ubuntu 12.04.2 disaster

yesterday I downloaded Ubuntu 12.04.2 x64 and it takes forever to boot,and when it does the trackpad does not work at all on my Compaq.what is going on here?12.04.1 is way more stable and quick.in my opinion they are over doing certain things.for the moment I am sticking with win8 x64 as it is very nice.hopefully Linux will come with an interface as catchy as windows.
