Unencrypt Truecrypt Drive
I encrypted an entire 500GB drive via Truecrypt, however I want to un-encrypt it. How do I do that?

You don't. You must copy the drive contents out of the encrypted disk then format the disk.laukce01 wrote:I encrypted an entire 500GB drive via Truecrypt, however I want to un-encrypt it. How do I do that?

Re: Unencrypt Truecrypt Drive
You mean change it from an encrypted hd into an uncrypted one. As pointed out you can't. You have to mount it and copy all the contents out like mentioned and reformat it.laukce01 wrote:I encrypted an entire 500GB drive via Truecrypt, however I want to un-encrypt it. How do I do that?
That is why for my encrypted I only use encrypted folder for my critical sensitive data as can move, copy for flexible use on any computer that it may be needed.

I recommend installing gparted and using that.
You can use this to identify the drive you mean to erase:
Code: Select all
sudo fdisk -l
Code: Select all
sudo gparted
