That's a command to enter in the terminal.
Or you will find it in the software manager just search for openjdk-7-jre
and can click it to install from there also.

Java ususally comes installed by default in Mint.

You dont give any info on what version of Mint you are running! You need to put more information... :?

Before installing ANYTHING. Check what you have

Open a terminal and run this command.

Code: Select all
java -version
GeneC

AMD Phenom2x4 3.2 ghz, 12GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 460

1. LMDE(201303) - Gnome Shell 3.6/Cin. 1.8 - Testing
2. LMDE - XFCE 4.10 - SID

3. SolydXK/KDE 4.10-3/SID
(All 64bit multiarch, Nvidia 319.17 - Liquorix 3.8.xx)

Good point GeneC

As mine shows

Code: Select all
java version "1.7.0_13"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea7 2.3.6) (7u13-2.3.6-0ubuntu0.12.10.1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.7-b01, mixed mode)

So yep follow GeneC suggestion first to see what's there first.

That's going to confuse him even more. Have you been in the package manager and typed the word java yourself? The OP won't be typing all caps - he'll probably smash the keyboard when he sees the number of entries, or worse... kick the poor cat.
