dvd drives

I've that both /dev/dvd and /dev/sr1 both eject my internal dvd rom drive but at the same time I have no way of using the drive for dvd how to solve this?

Can you be a bit more specific, please?

For example, what exactly does 'I have no way of using the drive for dvd' mean?

I cant get my internal dvd rom drive to read media my external usb dvd drive can read media but i can't play dvd's
