Duplicate Stacked Taskbars After Installing Nvidia Driver

Hi everyone,

I'm new to linux, and have been bashing my head against keyboard for the past 48 hours trying to solve this. I finally decided to register on here in hopes of a possible solution.

Problem:

I have 3 video cards in my computer. 2 GTX 460 and 1 GTX 275.

I have 4 screens, 2 on the GTX 275 and 2 on one of the GTX 460s (SLI setup for Windows gaming).

I don't care about SLI in Linux. I just want my monitors to all work for the extra screen real estate.

I install Linux Mint 13 x64 and everything goes fine.

When I login, only the monitors connected to the GTX 275 are detected by "nouveau" (which I have come to learn is my mortal enemy in this quest).

The other monitors connected to the GTX 460 are not detected at all.

I follow the forum guide to install the Nvidia Drivers (I've redone it about 20 times now, no joke).
"How to install the Nvidia proprietary drivers in LinuxMint" I follow it to the letter.

After a reboot, when I login, my desktop is all messed up. There appears to be one taskbar for each screen stacked ontop of each other. The menu shortcut seems to be cut off or missing. All 4 screens display, but only the ones on the GTX 275 I can get to.

In nvidia-settings the screens connected to the 460 are orange instead of blue (don't know what that means).

From what I've read it might be a conflict with nouveau and nvidia, but I'm not sure. I've tried blacklisting and disabling nouveau via GRUB, but I get the weird duplicate taskbar thing anyways.

What can I do to remedy the situation? Is it possible to run 2x GTX 460 and 1x GTX 275 with 4 monitors in linux mint 13?

Found another clue: I'm apparently defaulting to gnome classic instead of cinnamon. Trying to run in cinnamon produces no background (all black) and I can move the mouse but clicking on stuff does nothing.

Same problem here, I'm running ATI cards w\ 3 monitors.

That's for AMD cards, it purges the default drivers. Reboot after running it.
