You don't. Compiz and Cinnamon are not compatible. This is because Cinnamon is based on Gnome 3. You should remove Compiz. If you really must have it then you need the Mint MATE flavour.

I have updated & installed a couple of softwares in Current OS (Cinnamon) .Is there any possibility to retain it ? Any advantages of switching over to MATE from Cinnamon ? Please suggest .TehGhodTrole wrote:You don't. Compiz and Cinnamon are not compatible. This is because Cinnamon is based on Gnome 3. You should remove Compiz. It's a matter of taste and video hardware.rameshiit19 wrote:Any advantages of switching over to MATE from Cinnamon ? Please suggest .
I prefer Cinnamon, but it requires hardware acceleration. If the GPU isn't good enough then Cinnamon will chew up CPU cycles. MATE is good for lesser video hardware. My opinion is that Cinnamon is much better looking than MATE (pronounced mat-hay as in yerba mate). However, like I said, you can't have Compiz with Cinnamon.
The other option is to go with Mint KDE. It has all the Compiz features built-in, and more.

Wobbly Windows extention works in Cinnamon.
System settings, Switch to Advance Mode, Extentions,
Get more online, installed tab, Wobbly Windows extention, Add to Cinnamon.
Hope this helps.
